HEAVY DUTY MECHANICAL (Course length - 5 Days)
Engines covered on this course will be 3406 A/B/E, 3176, C-10, C-12, C11, C13, C-15, C15 and C-16
Objective: After successful completion of this course, the Technician will be able to:
- Identify all components in the various high pressure fuel systems.
- Use Caterpillar Service Manuals in SIS, Special Instructions and TMI to obtain service information.
- Perform all static and dynamic fuel system settings on mechanical fuel systems.
- Obtain timing information and perform all timing adjustments and calibrations according to Caterpillar specifications.
- Apply reusability guidelines.
- Troubleshoot fuel system problems.
- Perform proper injector sleeve removal and installation.
- Perform proper top end adjustments on applicable engines.
- Understand operation of components and perform proper adjustment procedures on the ACERT engine products.
- This course includes 2007 ACERT Engines.
Who should attend: Any technician who has worked on Heavy Duty Engines and has not had fuel systems training.
Description: This course is a practical study of the New Scroll and EUI Fuel Systems. Service procedures and systems operation will be covered. All adjustments will be covered in detail. Hands on training will be emphasized. Static training aids as well as a running engines will be used during this course.
Prerequisites: Basic Engine Systems Course. Students require their own CWS sign on.
