Med Engine 3126/C7/C9 ENGINES (Course length - 4 Days)
Engines covered on this course will be 3116/3126 MUI, 3126/B/E HEUI, C7, and C9
Objective: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to
- Understand the operation of the high-pressure fuel system and high-pressure oil systems as applicable to these engines.
- Remove and install exterior components and injectors.
- Adjust injector timing, fuel settings and synchronization of MUI injectors
- Adjust valves to specification.
- Properly remove and install applicable injector sleeves.
- Perform proper engine troubleshooting procedures as they apply to these engines.
- Perform governor inspection and static adjustments on MUI engines.
- Use SIS Web and TMI Web to obtain engine specs, fuel information and injector flash files as well as access current manuals.
- Use Caterpillar electronic service tools.
- Effectively use Caterpillar troubleshooting guides.
- Troubleshoot electronic problems as they apply to the fuel and high-pressure oil systems on the appropriate engines.
- This course includes 2007 ACERT Engines.
Who should attend: Any truck technician who will be performing repairs on any of the listed engines. The student should have a good working knowledge of diesel engines and a working knowledge of DC circuits. An understanding of Caterpillar electronics would be an asset.
Description: This is a practical study of the 3116/3126 MUI and 3126/C7/C9 HEUI fuel systems including HEP and the NEW Caterpillar Common Rail Fuel System. Both electronic and mechanical functions of the systems will be covered. This course is comprised of classroom and lab activities with labs conducted on running engines as well as static training aids.
Prerequisites: Basic Engine Systems Course. Students require their own CWS sign on.
Course Duration: 4 Days.
